Dido Powell paints still lifes, people, interiors and landscapes, scrutinising them from unexpected angles and cropping them sharply. She explores discrepancies in scale between objects and their settings, evoking curious and uncanny moods.
Objects reflected on glass also offer inspiration by providing a source of abstract distortions. A preference for strong, deep colours reflects Dido's experiences of living in Ghana and visiting hot countries.
Dido studied Fine Art at Leeds University, and her teaching of History of Art influences her painting.
Dido lives and works in London. Her biography is available on request.
